How to Install BlastBlock MLV

Products Required

Step 1

Measure & Prepare

Measure the wall area and calculate required material. Add 10% for overlaps and cuts. Clean the surface and remove any dust, debris, or loose material.

Pro Tips:

Use a notepad to record measurements
Calculate: Length x Height = Area in m²

Step 2

Apply Adhesive

Apply BA990 BlastAdhesive in a zigzag pattern covering approximately 70% of the surface. Work in sections for best results.

Zigzag pattern ensures even coverage
Don't apply too much - 70% coverage is ideal

Step 3

Position MLV

Start from the top corner and position the BlastBlock MLV sheet against the wall. The aluminum side should face the noise source. Work with a partner for large sheets.

Step 4

Press Firmly

Press the MLV firmly against the wall with your hands to ensure full adhesive contact. Work from the center outward to remove air bubbles and ensure a secure bond.

Press from center to edges
Ensure no air pockets remain
Use firm, even pressure across the surface

Step 5

Seal Edges

Overlap seams by at least 50mm (2 inches) for continuous sound barrier. Seal all edges, seams, and penetrations with BA890 BlastSealant.

Pro Tips:

50mm overlap minimum
Seal around electrical outlets and pipes

Important Notes

- Use BA650 Putty Pads around electrical boxes to maintain STC rating
- Ensure all seams overlap by at least 50mm
- Cover with finish material (drywall, paneling) per building requirements
- For fire-rated applications, use BB830FR
